This is a bit tricky. It depends whether you want something off-the-peg or bespoke. There are plenty of outfits offering ready-made websites. That's fine if you just want a domain name and web presence with a few static pages plus one or two e-mail addresses. We can do that and it needn't cost more than a day's work to get you up and running. If you are serious about putting your business on the internet, chances are you'll want a bit more. The web is such a useful medium for promoting and marketing your business, you may want to integrate it into your total sales operation. That requires a different kind of solution.

We can provide shopping cart facilities and a secure online payment interface, and we'll do our best to give your website the 'look and feel' of a bricks-and-mortar business. But remember: it's a big, wide virtual world out there. You can let it pass you by, or you can face up to the challenge. Just as we're doing. If it's work we can benefit from ourselves - say, getting up to speed on some new technique or design requirement, we won't pass on our own costs to you. If it's too big for us to handle, we'll happily work with you to find another agency or solution that meets your special needs.

Writing

The going rate for freelance writers is around £300-£350 per 1000 words. But that's not much of a yardstick. The fact is, if you come along and commission us to write a piece, we'll negotiate on the basis of time, complexity, research and any extra costs like photographs, travel and entertainment. If it's a piece we're interested in and the cause is worthwhile, you might even find we'll do it for cost and goodwill. Not for nothing, we share the motto "People Before Profit" with our main e-shop and trading partner, Daily Bread Co-operative in Northampton.
