Jo and John Kerr are a wife and husband professional freelance team.

We've known each other more than 35 years and work together....er, well.

Many a Gem is the name of our company. It's 5 years old this year (2003).

How?

How we got here.

Jo was a teacher before the family came along.

John worked for a large management consultancy then County Council IT departments for 25 years. Given the chance to take early retirement at 50, he couldn't believe his luck. We're still not sure who was best pleased to make the break.

That's when we decided to set up Many a Gem Ltd - a vehicle for our interests, talents and skills.

Giving up the security of 'the corporation' was a big step for both of us.

We have lots of ideas about how to develop the business. We could use a little more capital, if anyone's offering...

John loves books and is fascinated by words, images and designs. The web is a natural home for him to grow his talents.

Jo is not in the best of health these days, but helps where she can.

We've both done Reiki, up to Level Two. That's great. Just lie back, relax and let it all wash over you. Why not see if you have the healing touch too?

We have two grown up sons who've flown the nest and also a twelve year-old, Milo, who keeps us on our toes.

Milo is into the sort of things he should be for his age and gender: trying to pretend he's not interested in girls, buying and selling on e-Bay, football and basketball and maybe a little creative writing when he has a mind to. We've got 4 tickets for the Eminem concert in Milton Keynes this summer, one for me and each of our sons, and - no - they're not for sale!
